136 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.

4 To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.

22 Even an heritage unto Israel his servant: for his mercy endureth for ever.

24 And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endureth for ever.
25 Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever.

John 3:16-17

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Your New Beginning

In their song, “What Faith Can Do”, Kutless sings the following lyrics

“Everybody falls sometimes Gotta find the strength to rise From the ashes and make a new beginning” The Bible is all about “new beginnings.”

Each new day is one more opportunity for a new beginning. God knew that we would need a new beginning because of our sin problem. In the book of Acts, we read about a man referred to as Saul of Tarsus (Acts 9). Saul was sincere in his religious beliefs. In his heart, he really believed he was doing the right things as he set about to persecute a group of people known as Christians. Saul was an aspiring young Jewish attorney, well versed in the Jewish Law. One day he might be invited to sit on the Jewish Supreme Court (the Sanhedrin). Today he was an activist arresting Christians, even bringing them to death because of their faith.

God decided to offer him a new beginning. With a bright light, God stopped him on the road to Damascus to call him to a better way and offer him a new beginning. “for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.”(Acts 9:15-16)

Saul of Tarsus would become Paul the apostle. He would live out his life calling others to a new beginning. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.” (II Corinthians 5:17) “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4) The message Paul taught is still taught from God’s Word today. Our God is the God of new beginnings. He is the God of the second chance. He is the God of the new birth, the new life, and the new creature. He offers us something better than what we can find on our own. The life He offers us is eternal. The life we so desperately cling to in this world is temporary.
